Visual Identity Development • Website Design
Cambridge University Amateur Boxing Club required a complete redesign of their website to better reflect the club’s heritage, ethos, and evolving community. The previous site, though functional, no longer captured the ambition, discipline, or inclusivity of the club. We wanted to create a digital space that honoured CUABC’s long-standing legacy while embracing a more dynamic, contemporary identity for students, alumni, and supporters alike.

About CUABC
Established in 1896, the Cambridge University Amateur Boxing Club (CUABC) is one of the toughest and most prestigious sports teams in Cambridge. Each season, around 250 men and women compete for one of the coveted 12 places on the Varsity Team. The annual Varsity Match against Oxford is the longest-running inter-club amateur boxing fixture in the world.

Balance
Balancing tradition with intensity, the design drew from over a century of Cambridge history while capturing the raw spirit of the ring. Statement-like layouts combined with storytelling to honour both the dignity of the institution and the personal journeys of each fighter.

The Cambridge Blue has been at the heart of the long-standing sporting excellence and heritage at Cambridge since 1836. The colour was used to anchor the design, apply to key details, and to contrast with other bolder elements.

Legacy was central to the design. Black-and-white photos of past fighters were carefully integrated to honour the club’s history and create a sense of continuity. These archival images grounded the work in tradition, reminding viewers that every bout is part of a much larger story.
