In Conversation with Ai Weiwei
Event Ideation • Research • Management • Guest Experience • Full Communications Strategy
Under the invitation of The Fitzwilliam Museum Society and The Social Canvas Projects, Ai Weiwei spoke at the Old Divinity School of St. John's College, one of the most prestigious colleges of the University of Cambridge. A theme of the talk was needed to balance both the missions of the organisations and the interests of potential audiences in Cambridge, as well as a full communication strategy to market the event and manage Ai Weiwei's experience.

About the guest: Ai Weiwei
Ai Weiwei is one of the most influential artists and cultural ffigures of our time. Renowned for his fearless engagement with human rights, political freedom, and social justice, his work spans art, architecture, film, and activism. From the Beijing National Stadium to installations at the Tate and MoMA, Ai’s voice resonates globally, making him not only a visionary artist but a vital public intellectual on the world stage.

Curiosity
BRIE managed every crucial element to bring the event to life. We conducted in-depth research on Ai Weiwei’s artistic and activist practice to inform the event’s framing and messaging. We coordinated all logistical details, from venue setup at St John’s College to technical requirements for live streaming and recording. Alongside the FItzwilliam Museum Society, we designed the guest journey, ensuring a seamless and meaningful experience from arrival to post-event engagement.

Capture
We developed and implemented a targeted communications strategy across multiple digital channels, boosting attendance and broadening the event’s reach among both academic and public audiences. Our approach preserved the intellectual rigor of the discussion topics while infusing the promotional materials with curiosity and a playful spirit.
