September - December 2023

The Art Politics: Russo-Ukrainian War was an immersive concert and panel discussion event held at the Shaw Library of the London School of Economics and Political Science in December 2023.
Brie was behind the entire ideation, design, publicity and management of the event and saw 100 attendees and 4 of the most esteemed guests in their fields.

The Event
At the core of the design of the event and all relevant materials was immersiveness. We did not want to begin panel discussions on such heavy and intellectual topics straight away. Therefore, we began with two immersive performances of Gabriel Prokofiev’s ‘Howl! For Clarinet and Electronics' and Khabat Abas' improvisation on her bombshell cello.
After setting the tone and context, we followed with a panel discussion with the addition of Dr. Tamsin Alexander and Dr. Franziska Strack on art politics, where we aim to explore the historical significance of creative artists in times of political turmoil and their potential influence on today's creative practitioners.

Warmth and complexity
The visual identity for this event draws from the orange tones of The Social Canvas Projects brand kit, chosen for their warmth and approachability. Yet beneath the palette’s inviting surface, the design holds space for the gravity of the questions posed: how artists and cultural practitioners navigate political upheaval and ethical complexity.

Resonance and conflict
Through layered textures and subtle contrasts, the visuals reflect both the emotional weight and intellectual richness of the event’s themes. The design balances urgency with reflection, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue while honouring the responsibility and resonance of art in times of conflict.
